Evangeline Mendoza Bourgeois
Evangeline Mendoza Bourgeois was born and raised in Morenci, Arizona. She received her B.A. in Music at Arizona State University and her M.A. in Harpsichord at Governors State University in Illinois. She taught music at Chicago State University. She and her husband, Robert Bourgeois, left Illinois with their two sons, Christopher and Pierre, and moved to Connecticut in 1986. While Evangeline worked for the Department of Children and Families, she was also Minister of Music at the First Baptist Church of Southington. She retired from DCF and music ministry in 2008. She returned to teaching music and founded a private school, La Escuela Guadalupana de Musica. In 2010, from within the Escuela, Evangeline established the Mariachi Academy of Connecticut. Evangeline directs the Spirit Choir, the children’s choir from Most Holy Trinity School, and recently accepted the directorship of the Spanish Choir at Most Holy Trinity Church.
